· What are the major shopping outlets in the City?
Hervey Bay has four key shopping precincts in the city, and this will grow over
the next couple of years with two of the major centres expanding, and an exciting
range of large retailers moving to town.
· What is the average temperature in Hervey Bay in summer and winter?
Hervey Bay City enjoys a pleasant sub tropical climate, with mild winters, warm
summers and coolling sea breezes.
Average temperature in January is 30 degrees Celcius and in July is 22 degrees
Celcius.
Average rainfall in January is 134mm and in July is 37mm.
Average humidity in January is 60% and in July is 50%.
· I heard that Queensland has lots of mosquitoes and sandflies. Are these a problem
in Hervey Bay?
There are a few locations in Hervey Bay where this has been an issue. The Hervey
Bay City Council Vector Control Unit performs regular spraying programs in these
areas to ensure this is not a problem for local residents.
· I am interested in playing sport - what types of clubs do you have?
Hervey Bay has a range of sports clubs ranging from traditional sports such as
AFL, soccer, rugby league and rugby union, hockey, netball, cricket and swimming,
through to outrigging, triathlon, and callisthenics.....just to name a few!
In addition we have two walk/bike paths, which run the full length of the Bay
- one along the beautiful foreshore, and the Link Corridor, which runs along the
old rail corridor.
· We enjoy belonging to a community group to get to know people. What sort of
groups meet in Hervey Bay?
Hervey Bay has a diverse range of community groups, service groups and organisations
covering arts, crafts, volunteer work, the environment, community engagement,

· What are the high quality natural attractions in the area?
Hervey Bay and the surrounding districts offer a wealth of natural attractions
to see and experience. In Hervey Bay itself you have the Botanic Gardens at Urangan,
the famous Urangan Pier, and the beautiful beaches. From Hervey Bay you can catch
a barge or Fast Cat across to World Heritage listed Fraser Island.
A short drive takes you into the South Burnett region where you can experience
wineries and boutique primary producers.
