Interactive digital message delivery
School liaison officers within the Queensland Police Service have expressed the
need for visual and evidential resources to assist them in presenting issues of
relevance to young people. Interactive digital product provides for identifiable
messages reaching young people to discern dysfunctional, disempowering or damaging
behaviour and to equip them with mechanisms for dealing with that behaviour. The
Department of Theatre at the University of Southern Queensland develops a range
of best practice interactive digital products by providing comprehensive production
and post production services including actors, editing and packaging.

New fibre composite railway sleepers use technology developed by USQ's Centre
for Excellence in Engineered Fibre Composites | Fibre composite sleepers
A design has been developed for a railway sleeper that may be used as a replacement
for timber, steel or concrete sleepers in existing railway lines or new lines.
The sleeper is approximately 120mm deep and is made from polymer concrete and
glass fibre reinforcement and weighs approximately 61kg, although designs can
accommodate local conditions outside of these parameters. It has excellent electrical
insulation properties and can be fitted with standard rail fasteners. The revolutionary
shape of the sleeper provides it with excellent resistance against lateral movement.
The railway sleepers include fibre composite reinforcement members, which extend
through the tension zones.
